How to get here

This part of Mid Argyll is easy to get to:

By car:

From Edinburgh or Glasgow take the M8 westbound and the M898 Erskine Bridge, then the A82, follow signs for Loch Lomond.  At Tarbet on Loch Lomond take the A83 following signs for Inveraray and Campbeltown to Lochgilphead.

This will route will take you through some of the most beautiful scenery in Scotland, along the banks of Loch Lomond, over the famous 'Rest and be Thankful' pass and along the shores of Loch Fyne.

Visitors from the north should take the A816 for Lochgilphead from Oban.  Another spectacular route with glorious views toward the islands of the Inner Hebrides.

If you have GPS Lochgilphead's coordinates are: 56.03 north 5.26 west.

A useful map is the Ordnance Survey OS Road Travel Map 'Southern Scotland and Northumberland'.

 

By coach:

City Link coaches run up to three times per day from Glasgow's Buchanan Street Bus Station to Lochgilphead.  More details at www.citylink.co.uk 

West Coast Motors run a bus service from Oban to Lochgilphead.  Details at the West Coast Motors site.Cycle to Dalriada

 

By cycle:

You can follow the directions for cars above or use part of the Sustrans network to plan a quieter route to the Dalriada area.

 

By rail:

There is a railway station at Oban and a bus link to Lochgilphead.  Car/cycle hire is also available.

 

By air:

From Glasgow or Edinburgh airports follow signs to the M8 and follow the directions above.  From Oban airport follow the directions for car drivers above.

 

By sea

You can access the Dalriada Project area from the ports of Oban, Tarbert and Kennacraig.  See the Calmac Ferries site for more details.seaplane

 

By seaplane

There is a seaplane service operating between Glasgow and Oban.  More details from Loch Lomond Seaplanes.
